Melbourne has proven its self capable of hosting large events successfully time and time again hosting events such as the Australian Open Tennis tournament annualy, the Australian round of the F1 Grand Prix annualy, The Spring Racing Carnavil with the Melbourne Cup (one of the world's most prestigeous racing events), The AFL Grand Final held the last Saturday in September, The 2007 FINA World Campionships, The 2006 Commonwealth Games and hosted the 1956 Olympic Games for the first time ever in the Southern hemisphere!
